Redding Ballet Academie

Redding Ballet Academie is the official training school for Redding City Ballet.
The school provides instruction in dance for all levels, beginner through professional, offering a solid technical foundation in an environment and manner that builds self-esteem. Every student is offered instruction that meets the highest standards of professional training whether they are attending class for recreation or looking to pursue dance as a profession.
We believe that the discipline of learning dance provides benefits that enhance all aspects of life including self-awareness, critical thinking, communication, cooperation, patience, perseverance, music appreciation and historical and cultural understanding.
Redding Ballet Academie focuses on the style of ballet that emerged during the Balanchine years: combining the best of the Russian and European schools with the distinctive energy and spirit of American youth.

Training in this 400 year old art form is a slow process. It is here in the studio that the student develops the physical skills and musical awareness that makes a dancer of classical ballet.
The benefits of proper training in ballet include physical awareness, music appreciation and foreign language exposure. The classroom setting cultivates discipline, self-esteem and the ability to work cooperatively. There is a sense of community and personal achievement that establishes a lifelong appreciation of dance, theater and other associated art forms. While the coveted title of Prima Ballerina or Danseur Nobles are rare, a performing career is feasible and each student at RBA will be treated with attention to that possibility.
At Redding Ballet Academie there are five levels of classical technique. Placement is determined by observation of a student’s first class. For maximum progress, students should attend at least two classes per week. For the study of sur la pointe (dancing on pointe) the female dancer must be physically and technically mature. This is determined by the teacher.
Instruction at RBA is delivered by an educated staff with a wide diversity of experience in dance and theater arts. The studios are equipped with eight foot mirrors, a six inch sprung floor and double height barres. The beautiful facility is made complete with its location downtown across from the historic Cascade Theatre, Redding City Ballet’s performing venue.
