Policies and Regulations

The study of ballet follows a rich history in tradition and culture; the School, as an institution, expects students to be aware of this and to demonstrate respect to proper ballet etiquette and requirements as well as to the faculty and staff of the School.

Students must have a class card to attend class. Cards are located at the front desk. Teachers will pull the cards for younger children’s classes. Grade III and above students are expected to pull their own cards before entering class.

If a studio is not in use students are encouraged to use them for warming-up, etc. No loitering in the dressing area.  Please respect the people who have to change for class.

Do not disrupt an ongoing class. Do not enter the front studio during a class without permission from the instructor.

Students are expected to be dressed and ready at the designated time of class. Use the restroom before class. Women need to use the dressing room, NOT the bathroom, for changing clothes.  If you are more than ten minutes late for class, you need to arrange for a make-up class.

Students are expected to keep the dressing room and restroom facilities clean and orderly.  Trash baskets are located in the bathrooms and behind the front desk.

No food is allowed in the back of the studio

- ALL FOOD CONTAINERS NEED TO BE DEPOSITED OUTSIDE.

Gum is not allowed in the studio at all.

Water is the only beverage allowed in the dance room.

Students need to remove their ballet slippers before going outside.  Wearing ballet slippers outside ruins the shoes, and tracking in dirt from the outside ruins the dance floor.

Dancers, Family and Friends:
No street shoes are allowed on the dance floor.  They mark and pit the floor.  (We sit and lay on the floor. Do you really want to lay on something that someone drug in from outside?)

Parent Observation:

Parents:  The window in the back hallway allows you to view the class room at any time during your child’s class.  If you are going to observe your child’s class please arrive on time and stay for the whole session so as not to disturb the class in the front studio.  Please keep siblings quiet as the high ceilings allow the sound to echo dramatically down the hallway.

With the observation of these simple rules we can maintain the discipline and integrity of the art form in addition to allowing you the opportunity of seeing your child advance within it.
