Programs and Training

All Ballet students are encouraged to take at least two classes per week to enhance their rate of progress and, to provide them with the opportunity to study with more than one instructor. Ballet IV and above students are expected to attend class twice a week. Students enrolled in advanced ballet are required to attend class twice a week and allowed to attend Redding City Ballet company classes (see schedule).

Pre-K Division (ages 3-4 yrs) emphasizes the development of coordination and a love of movement. Class work includes large and small motor skills, an introduction to classical vocabulary, creative movement, teamwork and music appreciation.

Creative Movement Classes (ages 5-6) & Pre Ballet (age 7)

Student and Pre-professional Program Levels I through IV provide a graded program of classical ballet study which meets professional conservatory training. Progress is decided by individual evaluations. Placement is determined by teacher recommendation and the director. The Pre-professional Division is for young teen students who show dedication to the art of classical concert dance. Students will have mastered basic technique and correct placement. Girls will show sufficient hip, leg and foot strength for pointe work. Students will be observed during regular classes throughout the year. Participation in the program is by invitation. Read more about the Pre-professional Program.

Open Program for Teens and Adults offers the novice and experienced dancer the opportunity to continue to experience ballet in a mature, non-threatening atmosphere.
