Chance 2 Dance
Redding City Ballet’s Chance 2 Dance program serves underprivileged dancers in the greater Redding area. This program provides dance classes, dance attire and performance opportunities to students in the 3rd-5th grades who show an aptitude and passion for dance but whose families lack the means to pursue training. Thank you to private donors and the Redding Rancheria Grant fund for giving these young people a “chance to dance”.
Welcome to Redding City Ballet's Chance 2 Dance program, dedicated to enriching the lives of students in 3rd-5th grade through the art of ballet. This initiative offers a full year of ballet training at Redding City Ballet’s School of Dance (an allowance of up to $128 towards tuition, monthly), along with an allowance of $100 for dance uniform items in the fall and another $100 allowance in the spring. Participants will also have the exciting opportunity to perform in Redding City Ballet's productions of The Nutcracker and our Spring Performance.
We offer three tiers of scholarships that students can qualify for: full scholarships, 75% scholarships, and 50% scholarships.
Program Requirements:
Open to students in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade (ages 8-10) who demonstrate a passion for ballet and lack the financial means to pursue formal training.
Students and their families must commit to attending ballet classes twice a week.
Those who audition for and are selected to perform in RCB's The Nutcracker and/or Spring Production will have their associated fees covered by the Chance 2 Dance Scholarship (applies to all Tiers of scholarship) provided they commit to rehearsals and scheduled performances.
Students not chosen for Chance 2 Dance are still welcome to audition for and participate in The Nutcracker and Spring performances, provided they can meet the training and financial requirements independently.
Our Stories
“Dear Redding City Ballet Supporters,
Thanks to the "Chance to Dance scholarship," my daughter found beauty, joy, and a sense of community amid financial and medical challenges. This support provided her with excellence, skills, and a safe haven when we couldn't manage on our own. Dance has become an integral part of our lives, shaping my daughter into who she is today. As we move forward, we hope to stand on our own feet and pay forward this invaluable support to bless others in the coming season.”
— Mother of C2D student
“Our family is grateful for the opportunity to have dance classes for (our student). She learned new skills and made new friends. Without these classes she would have missed out on learning and experience life lessons.”
— Grandmother of C2D student
“I saw how all these people have to make so many costumes for one show. Lots of hard work to get to the show. I love my dance classes. ”
